Ration Card Renewal

As the Government of India is in the process of creating a Unique Identification Record for every citizen of the country, the primary identification document as on date for an individual to prove one’s existence or residential address is the Ration Card issued  by the Civil Supplies department to individual householder.

A ration card would contain the details of the head of the family and the members of the family, unlike the proposed Adhaar Card which is intended for every individual to be used independently, while the Ration Card’s primary purpose is to distribute the subsidized food items to families through authorized ration shops which get supplies from the State Civil Supply corporations.

Ration card enumeration is periodically done by the State’s statistical division, however, changes and alterations in the Ration Card and for that matter renewals are entertained when applications are made to the Taluk or Tehsil Offices of the particular residential location. Such renewals are done absolutely free, while Ration Card Renewals are facilitated online in a few States as of now.
