2. Residencial proof-

No Objection Certificate of Land lord or any other relevent document

Ration Card being an essential document for any Indian Citizen, renewal of this card is now enabled through online operations, in certain States of India, Karnataka being one.

The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer affairs of the Government of Karnataka now provides option to Karnataka Citizens to register their Ration Card registration online through their website and this process has commenced on 15th January 2013.

Who can apply for a ration card in Karnataka?

The following are the persons who can apply for Ration Card in general and online in particular:

  • Families which have not obtained Ration Card so far
  • Family members who have left their original families forming new family
  • Newly married couple establishing a family
  • Families who are temporary Ration Card holders.

Documents and information needed for application of new ration cards in Karnataka

Those who apply for fresh Ration cards must produce the following documents:

  • Photo identity document
  • Latest Electricity Bill

They must also furnish the following details:

  • Region allotted for food supply
  • Complete residential address, with PIN code
  • Names of individuals in the family and their relationship to the head of the family
  • The occupation and annual income of the family head
  • LPG connection, if any, already holding
  • Telephone or Mobile number to contact
  • Parents’ address  in the case of unmarried applicant

Procedure to apply for online ration card in Karnataka

Online application for Ration Card can be made by the following step by step procedure

  • The individual should send a text message to  9212357123 from one’s  mobile phone
  • A token number and a security code will come to the mobile number
  • An introduction from an existing Ration Card Holder is necessary, for which purpose such person will sit along with the application before the computer for registration.
  • The individual must make ready the bio metric scans and photograph scans of the members of the family to be fed to the computer.
  • The applicant is required to open the online application for feeding details and uploading documents.
  • Details of family members must be fed in the columns of the application on line.
  • The biometric scans and photograph scans of the applicant and that of every family member to be uploaded.
  • The scans of the Latest Electricity Bill and Photo Identification document of the applicant must be uploaded.
  • Likewise, the Introducing Ration Card holder’s documents are to be uploaded in the form of scanned copies.
  • The Self declaration form must be downloaded, printed, signed, canned and uploaded.
  • An acknowledgement will be generated in the computer.

The applicant will be issued Ration Card on the basis of this online application.
